The fresh water tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum) is a kind of fish which has delicious taste and with relatively easy to be risen, and it also has high immune system on the bad environment and relatively fast in growing (Usni, 2000). The obstacle which is faced on the fish rising is the increasing price of commercial food which in result makes the farmers of culture difficult to buy it. Thus, the expensive protein source on food need to be found for its alternative substitution. One of the things that can be done is by using local alternative food composition, such as tofu waste.
The tambaqui juvenile that was used for the research is approximately 5-7 cm long, and the tambaqui juvenile was from satker BBI janti seeding klaten. The media of water to be used in rising the fish was from PAM water and the place used in the research was plastic bucket. Furthermore, the food was given three times a day as much as 5 % of biomass weight of the tambaqui.
The purpose of the research was to know the effect of the substitution of soy flour with tofu waste on artificial food toward the growth and the rising of tambaqui food. The method used in the research was experimental which were of artificial food using comparisons between the content of soy flour and tofu waste flour towards treatment A (0% : 100%); B (25%:75%); C (50%:50%), and D (75%:25%). The research was done in LPWP UNDIP, Jepara, on October – November 2009.
The result of the research showed that the using of tofu waste flour substitution toward artificial food give unreal affect on average growth, Ratio efficiency protein, food convertion ratio (FCR), net protein utilitation (NPU) an survival rate (SR). The growth value of treatment A,B,C and D were (47,32±0,15); (45,15±0,15); (37,66±0,27); and (35,29±0,37). During the research, the quality of water was in optimal condition.
Key words: Tambaqui Juvenile (Colossoma macropomum), Tofu Waste, Growth, FCR, PER, Survival Rate
